Subject: Is body lift worth it? IP: Logged
Message: I have a 99Dak4x4 with a 318 and I was wondering since suspension lifts are so expesive should I go with a body kit?I have 32x11.50s on my truck now but I want 33x12.50s and I reall don't see spending that much money for 3" kit.Just curious!

I have had bad luck with body lifts but I do some major 4 wheelin'. As a matter of fact, tonight I have to go home and pull my rear 2 cab blocks and weld a piece of angle iron to bottom of the cab. Then I have to weld a piece of angle iron to the inside of my cab to give it more strength. I shattered my body mounts on a wheelin trip. And yes, I also use polyurethane body bushings for those people that want to tell me why I broke my body mounts. Also, this is only a 2" body lift. I needed it to keep my body clear of all of my custom stuff under my truck. I already have plenty of lift to clear my tires. I was on a level 4 hill when I broke them. On that same trip on a level 3 hill, I put my radiator into my fan.
I also have a friend with a '99 Z71 with 2" body lift. All he does is mud with it. He broke his rear cab mounts also and had to weld in pieces of angle iron.
As far as you breaking anything, probably not as long as you stay off of level 4 and 5 trails and some 3's.
