Hey guys... I'm new to this forum, normally I hang at mustangforums.com. I personally have a 94 gt and I'm used to ford performance. I wanted to purchase my dad something fun for his 2003 dodge dakota (4.7L)! he wants better gas mileage but doesn't want his truck too loud. I was trying to research what to get him and just from my mustang experience I was thinking either ... High flowing catalityc mid pipe? headers? or a chip? do you guys have any suggestions on where to purchase one of these items? I was having trouble find a "good" online company! I have the money to purchase only one of those.

Unlike your Ford, your Dad's Dakota already has a pretty decent flowing exhaust. Making it louder won't help it much at all. The stock manifolds are said to flow within 2% of available headers. The y-pipe is the bottleneck, if you want to replace that section with something better flowing.
The 4.7 also responds well to more ignition advance. I'm pleased with the custom flash I got for mine, but the flashes are becoming more obscure - most are using the superchips programmer now; and reporting favorable results. Don't expect a big change in milage, maybe a minor one if he keeps his foot out of it. Or enjoy it for the performance, screw the milage. After all, gas is half price from the $4 days !
