Subject: map sensor symptoms?
IP: Logged

Message:
Just recently replace the tps on my dakota 3.9 v6 Auto. I'm really paying attention on my truck malfunctions when something goes bad. I really don't know which are the symptoms on a bag Map Sensor. Does anyone had that experience on getting a bad map sensor?... And what it can be afected by that....like loose of engine performance?....drop of mpg?...Ignition spark?

Any answer I will really appreciate!....

i think it's highly unlikely for a map sensor to fail. most likely it would run very rich. what problems are you having?

My truck is running better actually I just got replaced the tps last saturday, and since I got my truck like 3 yrs ago with 87,000 miles and now it has 162,000 miles, I never replaced the sensors on the TB before, 4 months ago I replaced the IAC, and I was just wondering if is necesary to replace the map sensor to get a better gas mileage, 'cause I read that the map sensor its an Aid for the pcm to get a better fuel/air mixture, spark ignition, and actually the pcm will know if the truck is on a sea lavel aswell. But onces you said that usually the map sensor doesn't fail, maybe is not time yet to replace it. the truck its running good!...

What do you think daddio?
