I just ordered my 3" single side swept gibson stainless gig.....is this a decent mod? will I be able to install without the gouge of my local muffler boys?

Sure you can. I just got done doing the same. Took about 2 hrs, not rushing. Used a cold chisel to cut the muffler inlet open, then a hacksaw behind the muffler. Installed the new one, quick and easy. Not as loud as I expected, need more air coming in. It kills me that K&N won't be out till Oct.
