 Subject: Clutch Fan

Hi, I removed my clutch fan on my 2004, 4.7, Dakota. I am concerned with the temperature. Would I be able to wire an adjustable thermostat control switch into my factory fan without unhooking it? If so, will it still come on when the airconditioning comes on? Temperature, so far, is running mid gauge.
Help would be much appreciated.

No, it is controlled by the pcm.

Texas Todd thanks for the comeback, I tried to find a 180 thermostat for it and can't find one anywhere. Could I disconnect the wires going to the fan and wire the adjustable switch to the fan and bypass the computer? Thanks

you can wire a thermostat into your system.
If your a/c switch is on, the electric fan is always on.

Get a Jet 180 thermostat that is specifically made for the 4.7. I bought mine at Jegs for about $30.00.

Get a 180 thermostat for a 99 318, then drill the weep hole and file a notch, as on the original, re-use the original gasket. Works fine, my 02's been like this for 3 years. Much cheaper then $30.
