Message: Reputable? You mean like a Dodge parts department?
Or are you thinking more along the lines of a wrecking yard?

Message: It might have been, if you gave "bones" a better response. For example, an $80 boneyard PCM ran my '00 4.7 fine without any reflashing - but we don't know what your objective is. Do you have deep pockets, ready to spring big bucks for a new one ?

Message: Just buy a new one, cheap a$$. At least then you know that it works. Kowalski's may have worked, but he got lucky.

Message: Not enough info, racernj, so...
Of the 13 possible PCM part numbers for a 2002, 4.7-powered Dakota, 5 are for 2WD quad cabs. There are 3 for automatic transmission, and 2 for manual transmission, depending on emissions requirements.
You certainly must know which type of transmission you have. And a look at the Vehicle Certification Label on the driver's side door shutface will also let you know the type of emissions required (Federal, California, or 50 States). If you post that info, I can give you the exact part number PCM to look for.

Message: Josh,
Of coarse I know what trans I have. You guys mis-understood the question. I thought maybe someone that belongs to the board or a sponsor sold them and I put some info in in case someone had a used one for sale.
It is an automatic and the emissions are Federal.If you have the part # that would be great.
Todd,
Your probably right, might as well get a new one.
BTW....I have an error code for a bad PCM,thats why I'm looking.
Thanks

Message: Finding a used one for sale depends on quite a few factors, racernj.
As several responders have indicated, a lot of information must be known about your Dakota if you want the correct one: Year, engine, model, drivetrain, transmission and type of emissions.
OK. It took almost 24 hours, but we finally got all the info so Josh can give you a P/N to help you make sure you get the right one from whatever source you decide to use, only to find out you got a code.
It's kinda difficult to get you the answers you need if you don't provide all the variables. Maybe if we knew what code(s), we could help you better.

Message: I was holding off for a while, thinking you might provide the error code for your PCM problem so we could troubleshoot a bit more, and also kinda hoping you'd look at your PCM and see that the number is already right there on it.
But I did say I'd get you the number, and I am a man of my word, so here's what my parts manual lists:
PCM for 2002 Dakota pickup (AN)
Engine = EVA or EV0 (4.7L)
Line = 1 (2WD)
Body = 84 (Quad Cab)
Trans = DG0 (All Automatic Transmissions)
Description = Federal Emissions.
Dodge part number
#56029 351AB
The # symbol in my parts listing signifies that it is a new part number for 2002. Actually, all 26 PCMs for that year indicate the same. Looking further through the lists, 2000, 2001 and 2003 do not have PCM part numbers in common.
Happy hunting.
