Removing catcons will not help at all. Lift your right foot more often - it's the cheapest (free), most effective mod with no installation time or tools required.

there has to be some way to get an 01 dakota QC 4x4 with 360, to get better mpg than a 1991 ex cab, long bed Z71 with 350 and 280,000! The Dakota only has 112,000 on it.

better look at the upstream O2's. check for vacuum leaks. to get better mileage you'll have to make sure it is in top tune. some state that with a Superchips tuner on the 87 octane program do get a little better mileage.

that QC 4x4 w/ 5.9 is a beast of a truck for weight. you could also try changing tire sizes.

what size would you recomend? and its all good under the hood and the guy at the shop that hooked up the comp said that I might try cutting the wires on the O2,s and short them to each other to fool the ecu.

looks like you've got the proper size tires. with 112k i'd change the upstream O2's. install some NGK/NTK brand you can buy them direct @ www.NGK.com.

not the same vehicle but let me give you an example. my sons '93 Saturn was getting about 25mpg (by the way that is very low mpg for that car)so i checked the O2 sensor and it was dead. installed a new one and average mpg went to over 32mpg. almost 40mpg hwy. thats 7mpg right there. you wouldn't see that much of an increase with that 5.9 but thats about a 36% increase in mpg. if you get 36% increase of your 15mpg hwy. that would put you at 20mpg.

go with the super class as they are OEM replacements. the regular class are universal and will require you to cut and splice the old connector from you factory O2's. the front O2's are the ones the PCM uses to determine fuel ratio. the downstream ones tell the PCM that the cat is working.
