Message: I have a v6 dakota and i want to put a performance exhaust on it but I want it to be quiet. I have heared a couple different flomasteres and magnaflows on multiple different trucks and the tone was good but they were WAAAAY TOOOOO LOUD, for me atleast. Anyone know of and quiet mufflers or a way to quiet it down?

Message: I would try the hush power from flowmaster I just got about a million hits from google about it. They are supposed to be very quiet "Stock Sounding" not sure though never heard one in person. The delta flow does well. Very mellow, and alot of bass at idle but at WOT it livens up. I have the 4.7 though. Just my thoughts. Hope this helps.

Message: try the Dynomax 17748, it is a direct replacement for the stock muffler. it sounds near stock but flows better.

Message: 17748 is often times said to be the direct replacement.
On my '98 3.9L (CA smog), the 17748 was several inches longer than the factory muffler. I took it to a shop to weld it in, then noticed later that they welded it to hit the drive shaft on bumps! So not necessarily a "drop in" replacement, be careful, and measure your stock muffler to be sure.
It starts out quieter than stock but will be louder when it's burned out. Not "loud", but very deep, and definitely audible in the cab (although I might have a broken seam now from hitting it on the drive shaft...)
