Message: Same bellhousing; magnum motor mounts differ from LA motors (pre-mag).
Lead, follow, or get out of the way

Message: A Magnum V8 will bolt in to the same mounts as your V6. You can do the same non-computer setup on a Magnum.

Message: Both Mopar and Edelbrock sell carburetor-style dual plane intakes for the Magnum. Edelbrock sells the Performer RPM Air Gap, Mopar's is under the M1 banner. Then there's the cheaper knockoff of the Edelbrock model. All can be had through Summit or Mancini Racing, and others.

Slap on one of those intakes and from there, proceed as you would for the LA block. You'll need a carb and either an electric choke, or a manual cable choke. Magnum's have no heat crossover, so the old-style choke won't work.

This article covers a 318 buildup that involves converting to Magnum heads, etc. Gives a good example of what to do. Note, they use a higher performance single plane intake. For a good, torquey street engine, use one of the dual-plane intakes.
Note, the same distributor used in the LA fits the Magnum block the same way.
Have fun!
