I have a 96 dakota with a 3.9 and my service manual says that there are bolts holding on the water pump pulley but there aren't. Does anyone know if the pulley is pressed on?

Remove the fan and fan clutch and look around some more.

I remember that the original is bolted on and that a replacement is pressed on. My 96 had a bolted pulley when I removed it around 100,000. The Mopar replacement I bought had it pressed on.

maybe to go to a power pulley,thats what i did and mine was pressed on too,so i got a bolt on pulley waterpump off a Ram so the power pulley could be attached to the pump,and i pressed on the piece that has the bolt holes.

On the other hand maybe he was just standing there with one hand holding the hood open, talkin with the guy next door, looking down at his engine and thought "holy S&*# all the bolts fell off my water pump pulley" !!!! Just kidding.

Im putting on an electric fan, and the clutched fan that is currently on there is attached to the waterpump. So I didnt know if the previous owner took the bolts out of the pully or if it was supposed to be like that.

my question wasn't if the clutch fan comes off the pully, but after I take the clutch fan off what is holding the pully on. Is it pressed on, bolted on, or does the clutch fan nut hold it on.
