Subject: About time-Rammer's Turbo 360 is alive. IP: Logged
Message: Hey all. It's been long time no talk!
I've been busy at a new job and all.
Today Rammer and I got to messing with his truck again finally since we swapped out his blown up 5.2 for a 5.9 several months back.
Well we almost got his pig running good enough today with the turbo on the new 360 that maybe next summer I'll be brave enough to turbo my 4.7
Today we went to Duner's house to pick up a FMU and leach any more information that we could from him.
We stopped at the closest Checker Auto Parts store and installed the FMU there and boy what a difference!
It rips the tires out once it hits boost. Still limited to 7 PSI for now.
Here's a video I made and stuck up on youtube of our progress today. 1hotkadota should get a kick out of that. Since he's a local guy to us and is going to turbo his Dak too. :)
Copy and paste as usual:

FMU install at the closest Checker Auto Parts - is there something special about their parking lots?
So you're on to another job? How could it have gotten better from the last one?

Message: YEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dude, I was grinning the whole time I was watching that video. Frickin Awesome guys!!!!!
Was that new FMU just a mechanical unit? I've found a few 12:1 rising rate fuel regulators online that I have been looking at. Is that the same.
Unfortunately I've had to do suspension work on my dak the past two weekends. Last weekend I installed 3" drop leafsprings. This weekend I am installing new bushings(AAAAAHHHHHHH), and 2" drop coil springs.
But I've got new properly sized turbo last week and all I need now is the wideband, wastegate, and FMU.
GOOD JOB GUYS! Now go find a lightning and kick his ass!!

Graph, I'll be turboing my 4.7, manual, Quad, etc. hopefully also soon.
It's funny to see someone shifting on the steering column!!!!
Why not just let the tranny shift it? Must be a reason?

Message: Modain, The reason we sinatlled at the closest Checker?
That's because Duner lives an hour away from us! And we HAD to install it right away BEFORE we drove home! LOL!
As for the job, well I am doing all commercial now. Mostly low temp in a resteraunt chain here in the Valley. We also do some Best Buys, etc. But the other techs prefer not to do the low temp so I have not had to go to a Best Buy yet. At least I've been inside 90% of the time lately! And eventually learn some chiller stuff.
Oh, and I'm now in a Union. That's RARE in Arizona!
1hotkadota, Dude you need to come over some weekend and see the progress. Seriously. We also need to talk Rammer into taking his Ram to the track. I wonder if it will be in the 13's now? I bet it would be if he ups the boost from 8 to 10. He has a boost controller (hand down) to install.
I am getting more brave about installing one on my 4.7 now!
BTW. Duner gave one great piece of advice we didn't know about!
Stock Chrysler MAP sensors can be blown out form boost. And when they do, it can cause the PCM to go to near idle fuel conditions even though your under 10PSI of BOOST! And that makes an engine go BOOM!
So we sinatlled a check valve on Rammer's MAP sensor as well.
TexasTodd, if he doesn;t shift manually, it shifts at 5500. He's manually shifting around 6,000 to 6,500. We are not sure, as the highest number is 6 and it goes PAST that now with the custom PCM flash.
Duner said his turbo R/T has just gotten into the 10's now. That's around 700 HP on a stock bottom end!

Message: Yup. As soon as I feel confident in Rammer's running reliable we'll be throwing a Turbo onto my Dakota next summer if all goes well.
It's really hard to resist putting a turbo onto my 4.7 Dakota now that we see how good his 360 runs with one. Damn, he's got like 450+ HP for $1,500 worth of stuff! What else can you do to make THAT kind of power increase for that kind of chump change?

Well, except maybe NO2 which I didn't think of when I said that and am surprised no one else came back with that one! But the NO2 only works until the bottle runs out LOL!
So how many parts have you collected for your 4.7 turbo project 1hotkadota?

Message: He's got an air fuel gauge. But not a good one.
The bottom end of the engine is stock. He has aftermarket cam, valve springs, and some home brew porting.
Turbo is home brew installed.
Intercooler from a Dodge Cummins.
Timing retard via MSD BTM
FMU unit
24Lb injectors.
Custom flash PCM.
It still needs better tuning. But sure is fun.
You can duplicate the same mods to a 5.2/5.9 for under $2k and gain 200HP easy.
Last night we were all at the track and it ran a variety of e.t.'s and one time as bad as 14.8 (stock was 17.0) and right after fixing a leak at the intercooler piping (no hub that has blown out 3 times in a week) it all of the sudden ran a 13.65 and then 13.9's for the rest of the night.
That's pretty good.
I'm uploading video that we took last night onto youtube.
I'll start a thread for that later.
