Subject: stall converter IP: Logged
Message: where can i get a bigger stall converter, im in the process of saving up enough cash to get the KRC 210 cam, but it says it requires a hot ignition system, valvesprings, mopar pcm(since my hypertech wont work for some reason), gears, and a mopar converter.
ignition system is no problem, valvesprings prolly arent really necessary IMO, and shouldnt the stock 3.92 gears be enuff in my truck?
but as far as the stall converter, where can i get one and how big should i get it for the mods i have and will have
viper rocker arms
M1 mani
52mm TB
hedman headers
flowmaster 3" exhaust
mopar pcm/hypertech
MSD complete ignition system

Message: there lots of places to get converters out there but you need match it to the rest of the driveline.
i'm sure someone at KRC could recommend one that would work well with the 210 cams and your gears. unless you have to go the 4.10:1 gears. if i had to guess, which is what this is, about 2200 to 2400 stall and hopefully still keep the lockup feature.
if you don't have a 4x4, you may be able to just get a factory 4x4 TC because they usually have a higher stall than 4x2.

Message: What's a stall converter? How do you convert stall? Seriously. Get the terminology. It's a TORQUE converter. Stall is a mechanical characteristic of the converter.

Message: Gear, why dont you cut gen1dak some slack. FYI, in the world of torque converters, there are many terms of "stall" used. There is "true" stall, "foot brake" stall and "flash" stall. Each has a different meaning and function. With your attitude, you'll be the first one to complain and b!tch when you buy the wrong torque converter and it doesn't do what you want. Then you'll wonder why someone didnt tell you about the different term and functions. So do us all a favor and go do a google search and find out if you really need a performance torque converter, and if you do, educate yourself about them before buying one. Otherwise, shut the hell up when someone is trying to help you out. Questions?

Gear, the poeple @ KRC should know their product best. tell them what you have in the truck and what you want out of the truck and i'm sure they'll help you with the converter. by the way, if it's recommended to change those valves springs with their 210 cam. it'd be a good idea to do so. especially if you go higher gears and higher stall you'll be revving the engine a lot more also. the weak factory springs may cause you some problems then.
