Subject: Chip opinion and where to buy...

Alright, time for my next mod. In the past year I have added a K&N FIPK Intake and a Gibson exhaust to my 2004 QC 4.7L V8 Dakota. I need some help pushing my 33's since my gears suck (3.55's). I figured the next logical route would be a chip / programmer.

I have been reading alot and it seems like Superchips is the route to go. My question is, is this the best programmer to get and where can I find one for a 04 Dakota. The superchip's website doesn't list any dakota's past 2003. If a superchip is not available, what's my best option to maximize my mods and performance?

Thanks guys.

Don't know the answer on the PCM flash, but IMO a better move would be to go up to 4.10 gears, esp. with the 33's.

Would love to get new gears, but that ain't cheap. I don't pull anything. The 3.55's work fine with the overdrive off on the highway. Hopefully my tranny will survive the pain of turning the 33's.

Still need some chip advice.....

jetsfan8099-You can actually get everything you need ( assuming you have a 4x4.) to change both axles to four tens for less than six bills. The question would be, do you have the technology and the know how to install everything or would you have to farm it out? The cheapest website I have been directed to is, accuaautoparts.com. I will be doing this to my 2000 Dak 4.7 QC in the very near future.

No chip will give you back as much as you lost; going to the larger tires. You don't have to pull anything to notice how much the larger tires have affected your truck. The gear change, while not cheap, is the much better solution.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way

Wylman, Thanks for the info. I have not the time, tools, or skills to change my own gears. I practically killed myself trying to do the cold air filter and exhaust.

I do have an uncle that rebuilds engines...perhaps I need to have a chat with him.
