I noticed the other day that the fan blades are not evenly spaced on the 4.7 you have like 2 and then a big space and then a other 3. What the hell is that. For one it looks stupid and i ask my self why would they do that.

Also is the 4.7 fan powered buy the P/S pump like the jeeps or is it belt from the water pump.

And can you get a flex fan or a regular spaced fan that would bolt on. I didnt buy the truck yet but i saw it at the dealer.

I don't know why the fan was made that way-crazy! I took mine off completely, it also has an electrical fan on it, with the 180 T-stat I've had no problems with overheating.
I wouldn't get a flex fan, they tend to go thru hoods, radiators etc...
The fan is bolted to the clutch which is bolted to the water pump shaft. The pulley is welded on the shaft (so I've heard-I didn't really look that close)

Welded, pressed or both. Anyways I went to a show and nobody has replaced the nuts either. I took mine off and it's fine. Runs a lot smoother and as you said no over heating probs although I am going to hook up a manual switch for the PCM doesn't activate the fan untill 210* when iddling which is a little hot. I want my engine very cool when I hit the gas at the track.

Why would they first of put a stupid looking fan on and then through a electric fan right infront of it. I dont get it.

The strange spacing of the fan blades is to make it quieter. They found that evenly spaced fan blades made more noise than fans with spaces in them. The reason for the electric fan is to draw more air thru the a/c condensor so that when you are sitting at a stop light, the a/c doesn't start to blow warm air. They also have it as an auxiliary fan in case you get over 210 degrees or so. I think they should have just installed dual hi-flow electric fans and done away with the mechanical fan altogether.
