Subject: 4.7 clutch sizes? IP: Logged
Message: Hello, I am in the process of changing the clutch on my 01 Dak 4x4 4.7 and went ahead and ordered the Centerforce dual friction listed for the truck 11x10x1 1/8 #DF972972.
I compared the old clutch I removed and it is actually 12' and the centerforce one is 11' and centerforce does not even list a 12' clutch for Dakotas, anyone else run into this before?
I found a listing for a Zoom performance clutch
#HP2051-1 12x10x1 1/8 but I doubt I can find this up here in Canada.
Anyway, has anyone else run into this problem, are there two different versions of the flywheels?
Thanks

Message: I know this wont answer your question, but I was wondering much of a pain in the ass is changing your own clutch? I have a 00 Dak 4x4 4.7 I'm thinking doing the same as well, when the time has come. Any special tools needed?
BTW, where in Canada are you located? I'm in Ontario.

Message: Hey Anthony, Its a bit of hassle getting this NV3500 out in a 4x4, the top two bell housing bolts on the driver side were a real pain in the but because of the wiring harness and fuel rail being bolted in a brace right there.
Couple things I learned 1) get the y-pipe right out of there it hangs the tranny up when you are trying to get it out. 2) take that fuel rail right off I mentioned above becasue it gets hung up on the trans aswell. Dont really need any special tools but air tools are pretty much a must as I found all the bolts to be damn tight and full of thread locker. need any tips let me know, I`m in Victoria BC.

Message: Ya, the whole section back to the cat comes out,you will probablly need a torch to heat that part up and remove it as I did.
I ordered the Zoom performance HP2051-1 , I called them up and they said they knew about this as Dodge used both 11' and 12` clutchs and the only way you can tell is when you take it appart. Nice eh?
I`ll have to check out that site.
