Message: Jason Berry's is very reliable and he runs his on the street. Yes, it has forged pistons and rods. He probably spent more money on it than a R/T owner would, but I am glad. Why is it that every R/T has to be the fastest? It is for the same reason that why everybody drives a damn '88-'08 full size Chevrolet. Everybody has one and parts are readily available. Why not be different? Yes, it will cost more, but it will be everything that you wanted.
Finally... a V8. '01 Dodge Dakota RC, 4.7, 5-speed, 3.92 LSD. = R/T Killer. well at least a stock one

Message: my truck is in the 15s and its impossible to drive in snow. its tricky in the rain.
but thats about what you would have to do. soo alan. if you really want to get your truck goin that fast your ganna need heads and a supercharger. then you could get into the 13s.
if thats not fast enough then tear apart the bottom end and put some nice forged pistons and turn up the boost and you could be in the 12s. but he i have no idea.

Message: Ok so maybe he has a pretty reliable engine but im sure he knew exactly what he was doing throught the entire build and has it tuned perfectly with almost no chance of detonation.
Now think to your self, Is Alan going to use the type of know how and perfection that is required to pull off a project like this.
Im just saying that I think it would be more reliable to build a 5.9
Just curious. Does anybody knows how he is keeping the heads on that thing. Studs? O-Ringed?

Message: If he put some good cams, probably at least the 218s or the 224s, supercharged it (keep the boost low, around 9psi), cal-tracs and sticky tires, custom flash, HO manifold, fully ported heads and then I think that you could hit 12s.

Message: Apparently he is using stock head gaskets with some mopar spray. Thats amazing, I never would have guessed it would hold under 19psi. Dodge must have built these motors stronger than I thought.
Well if hes getting away with that then im gonna turn up the nitrous and see what this little motor can do.

Message: R/T is definitely a badass Dakota but......My stock 2000 quadcab with the 4.7 has run a best of 5.125 in the 200 foot flattrack at my local mud bog. Beating out trucks with well over $10,000 invested in them..... for a consistent second place two weeks in a row. The only thing I have replaced is the stock air filter with a K&N unit. Oh yeah I stomp the dogs**t out of riceburner cars from redlight to redlight as well. Build the 4.7 and go take some names. Are any of you aware that the 4.7 is the same engine Benz puts in there SLK coupes? All the dodge techs I know say go with the 4.7. Most of them like it better than the Hemi trucks!!!!

Message: Yup, like Shoe said, WTF ? The last thing this site needs is another trash talking idiot. I just read a post from you badmouthing a 5.7 Tundra; saying you'd beat him. And all you have is a stock 4.7 ? I like my 4.7 too, but even with the mods I have, I think that 5.7 (which comes with 4.30 gears) would beat me. We'll feel free to raise our eyebrows at any trash talking idiots we want; no need to consult a tech on this one. I prefer my truck to the heavier full size hemi too; but that doesn't mean I think it's invincible !

Message: Kowalaski, It's not trash talk when I have the proof. I have beat two 5.7 Tundras on the flat track at the Mud Bog. Let me tsay that again....not one, two Tundras. How is it trash talk when I have proof? I have also learned that my truck has had some kind of custom flash done to the PCM (my bad.) due to the fact that the rev limiter has been disabled. Maybe it has been cammed. I am the second owner of my truck and assumed it was stock. I'll know more in a few weeks. My buddy and I are going to pull the top end apart and check the cams out. Do any of you know if there are any stamps or identifying marks I should be looking for? Anything will help. I know this.....I will always have 4.7 Dakota in one of my stalls!!! Oh, yeah Kowalaski. I have video of my truck going down the flat, it's kinda dark but, I would be more than happy to send it to you. The closest a Tundra Has come to me is a 5.320 that's almost 2/10ths off!!!! I HATE JAP CRAP!!! AMERICAN POWER FOR LIFE!!!!

Message: OMFG!!! First off... proof? How in the hell is that proof? I just outran a top-fuel dragster the other day. I guess because I said it, it just has to be the truth. If you look at the cams, unless it is a HO cam it should be stamped on there. Either 206, 212, 218, or 224. Oh and Jap crap? The Tundra was built in America. I know that Toyota is a Japanese based company, but the Tundra is probably more American than the so called American trucks for Dodge, Ford and Chevrolet whom all build most of their vehicles in other countries.

Message: Shoe-does this mean you will be trading your Dakota for A Tundra sometime in the near future? I sure would be disappointed!!! I have a video of my truck runnig the flat, no timeslip ,though. Anyway, what would be the best cams to go with for the bog and still be streetable? I will also be going to four ten gearing with a detroit style locking unit this winter. We can get off The jap DESIGNED crap now. I'm over it. OH, one last thing. I did ask him to bring his title......i'm willing to put my truck up on the fact that I will take him through the 200. Nuff said....... Any tech help you can give, will be greatly appreciated. S**T...one last thing, Anyone have any info on the Jex chip IAT module?

Message: Wylman - did you happen to notice this thread, and the other one where you were trash talking - aren't about mud bogging ? You also mention redlight racing, where a stock 5.7 Tundra will beat a stock 4.7 Dakota handily. You don't even seem to know what has been done to your motor. I've already got a 4.7 with a custom flash, ported TB, HO cams and 4.10 gears, and have a pretty good idea how it would do in a race against a 5.7 Tundra. If you beat some in a mud bog, it could easily be due to the driver or choice of tires.
I didn't know our 4.7 engine was the same that Benz puts in the SLKs - nor do I believe that to be true. Where did you come up with that ? Others have falsely attributed our 4.7 design to Benz; when in fact it was developed by Chrysler. Then there was the knuckelhead who wanted to argue the Toyota 4.7 was the same as ours; and another bonehead who thinks the 5.2/5.9 will behave the same as a 4.7. We're all too used to seeing clueless people claim a bunch of phony nonsense here; and then having to straighten it out. People who post garbage on this site will be called on it. It's great that you like your Dak, but lets keep it real.

Message: Your right.......the 4.7 was designed by DaimlerChrysler........oh.......that's right, Mercedes Benz!!!!! It is the same v8 Benz designed and built. Don't tell me what I do or do not know. I worked at a BMW dealership, right next door to the Benz shop.... in the same building. I use to listen to the benz techs complain about the fact that Benz was allowing Dodge to put this engine in a truck.... Do your homework. Then tell me i'm wrong.
