Message: My '01's are magnesium, too. I priced a pair at the local Dodge dealer, they WERE $220 each, but are no longer available. The "running change" is a new plastic version at $85 each.

My 01, 4.7 has the magnesium valve covers also, and I really like the way they look. I think it is state of the art, high tech looking.
I actually heard of people painting them? What ever floats their boat I guess.

Message: Magnesium rocker covers are fragile, compared to the newer thermoplastic ones.
The FSM is full of cautions about not letting anything rub or contact the magnesium covers (like wiring harnesses, hoses, and such), or there is a risk of perforation due to abrasion caused by engine vibration.
