ok im going to be purchasing a dakota soon


and noticed a custom turbo kit for the 4.7 producing 390hp (2 the wheels)

off a stock application.

and i was wondering with mods and what not plus fuel.. would that be a smart choice?



or would it be cheaper getting a r/t and stroke it to a 408...

or SC a r/t


what you think?

I think he is talking about the turbo kit from e-bay. It's almost $6000 but looks pretty good. I've heard some bad things about the seller though.

1hotkadota, when ya gonna come to our side of town again? We got Rammer's truck running. Just got to add some more fuel. It looked like his O2 sensor was bad and he just got a new one but haven't tested it out much yet.

Well... it would take time, but it would be so much worth it. That hardest part really is tuning one of these things.

I'm in the process of putting a turbo on my 4.7 right now. I have the turbo, A/F gauge, BOV, Boost gauge, flanges & V-band clamps, some if the compressor piping, fuel pressure regulator and a few other goodies. When my welder gets here I can start putting the exhaust portion together. I just hope it works:)

The most important thing I need are bigger tires and an LSD, I have the wussy 15x7 rims and an open 3.55 unit. Until then, I'm goin nowhere fast.

I got a cheapo turbo from e-bay for 200 dollars. I think I got the wrong size be cause its a 1.15 A/R on the turbine and a .60 A/R on the compressor. I'm pretty sure it should be around .85 A/R on the turbine and .70 on the compressor, maybe .75-.80 on the compressor, but I'm not sure. If this turbo doesn't work, I will just get a more suitable turbo size, and I will at least have all the plumbing and stuff for the right turbo the next time.

Oh yeah, I've got a T4 turbo. I've heard the T3/T4 hybrid can be used but I can't find them in the right sizes.

I'll definitely be posting pictures on here when I'm finished. Maybe I'll start selling some kits, or at least post some free plans, if this one works well enough.

i have an '00 ram turboed. had a 318 now 360. waiting on fuel pump but its quick. the t3/t4 turbo youre talking about would be ok if you had like 4cylinders. the t3 side is for hot side and the t4 side is for compressor side.=smaller hot side for faster spool/smaller motors and big comp. side for alot of air/boost.

i have a set of39lb F.M.S fuel injectors for sale and an greddy PROFEC-B electronic boost controller for sale also for turbos.can switch from low boost setting and high boost settings with a push of a button.


TURBOS ARE GREAT! something i posted and said to the 1hotkota guy,

BOOST IS ADDICTING LIKE BOOBS.ONCE YOU GET THE FIRST FEEL OF IT,YOU WANT MORE AND MORE!

i really dont know alot just what i have learned about through my own trial and errors.i like the borge warner to5b turbo,i have an a/r .96 hot section and it spools great on my 360. i use to have an 318 in the truck with an .82 and that worked great.i know on the dakotas there isnt alot of room for an intercooler infront of radiator,so ive seen people do an water to air or ive heard of people doing water/methanol injection. i know snow performance make a good kit for that and is a good price too. theres a guy that goes by the name duner in here that has a 4.7 turbod and i heard its fast, so he might be the best to ask for the daks. you will need more fuel,a turbo,wastegate,blowoff valve,alot of piping and flanges etc.

has alot of mustang stuff but there is a section about a turb bible,it tells you anything you want t know about turbos.,
