Message: I am now among the many other success stories of installing a RobertShaw GT755-180 180 degree thermostat.
On a 4.7L DAK, it's relatively easy once you figure out how to get the lower plastic shield off the bottom of the truck.
I believe that all you'll need is some nimble fingers and a 8mm socket/wrench.
Follow the hose from the radiator to the engine block. This should be located near the bottom left of the engine (as you're looking at the front of the truck).
There are two 8mm bolts holding this hose onto the truck. Be sure that you have a bucket handy to catch the coolant. As you start to unscrew the two bolts, coolant will begin to ooze out.
After removing the hose away from the engine block, the stock thermostat may be stuck to the side of the engine block. Mine was. I had to gently pull the thermostat away from the block. Tons of coolant started to flow from behind the thermostat. Be ready with the bucket.
You'll need to reuse the rubber gasket from around the stock thermostat to reapply to the new robertshaw t-stat. No other parts required.
After the coolant is completely drained, reapply the new thermostat into the hose. The gasket will be snug inside the hose. Be sure to put the thermostat into the hose the correct direction!
Then align the hose onto the engine block and rescrew the two 8mm bolts.
Open the coolant fill cap, and open the coolant bleed using an allen hex wrench. Very important! If you don't open the bleed, the coolant will not flow initially! Your engine will overheat!
Then use a funnel to refill your radiator with coolant.
Close coolant bleed.
Start engine, check for leaks.
My thermo guage inside the cab is riding much lower than the stock one. Estimated about 180.
Fantastic job Robertshaw!!!

Message: Does that 180 stat fit the 2001 5.9 also.
