Peter, which motor we talking 'bout here.

On my 4.7, I removed the stock air hat and tubing to the filter box.
Then, used a 'fernco' 90 degree connector. It's firm rubber, not ABS plastic, so it seals well with the stock clamp. It also has a long bend, not an abrupt kink. Then I used a piece of PVC, getting rid of the accordian tube, to the stock air box, or use a cone filter. MIne has a K&N drop in. Only b/c it's cleanable and reusable.

There are lots of variations. I then use a few cut fiberboard sheets, and walled off the front passenger side of the front of my air box, so very little if any under hood air can get there.
I then took off the curved snorkel, and the rubber flap.

So now I have a 'true' CAI (Cold air intake)

Total cost, with filter, around $30bucks. Been so long, can't remember exactly how much.

Search the old posts for HOmebrew intakes for the 5.2, you'll see photos and get some good ideas.

I'll bet mine dyno ~ the same as
any store bought CAI. If I had a show truck, I'd have a painted or chrome one on there.

I had pretty much the same setup on my 1993 5.2 liter Dakota too. Except that it was a 14" air cleaner.

Peter, I think stewie needs his diaper changed. Oh, and brian could really use another bottle of that Colt 45 stuff, just keep him away from my dads dog. Although a few baby brians running around would be kinda cute.
Oh, listen to me, poor Louis looking for another baby. Imagine two Stewie's. Peg, cook the boys supper, where's Quagmire when you need him???
