Message: I called them today and they said that there is not a superchip desing on the board yet for the newer Dakotas. And as of now no plans for one in the future. Ouch!

Message: the dakotas arent NEARLY as popular as they used to be with the new design, and the 3.7 is even less popular than the old 3.9

Message: While the newer Dakotas might not be as popular as the older ones, I'm not so sure about the 3.7 being less popular than the 3.9. People I know who have the 3.7 in jeeps love the motor. Isn't it stronger than the 3.9 ? But companies will go where the market is - those wanting more power will generally go with a larger motor, so Superchips will cater to where they see greater demand first. Why didn't you go with the 4.7 if you wanted more power ? For the difference in price in the engine option, you'll never make up that power difference putting the $$$ in aftermarket parts for the smaller motor.

Message: the new dakota is much heavier, i saw alot of RC SB v6 dakotas, they dont exist anymore
and yes it is a stronger motor, i think by like 40 hp
but ay any rate i see many more v-8 dakotas than 6s
maybe its just a local thing

Message: I'd expect to see more v8's in the heavier trucks to push the extra weight. I think we'd see even more going with the v8 if the other option was the weaker 3.9. That's all I mean when I say the 3.7 isn't less popular than the 3.9; but I could see how someone could look at the raw numbers differently.

Message: heh, like how they dont even offer a v6 in the durango
it didnt have enough power and the fuel economy was the same if not worse than the 4.7

Message: I'm guessing Dodge made their tables as strong as they could, while still maintainging reliabily standards, to make that 3.7L put out as much power as it could. Of course, Superchips could make a program for it, but it would either not do much, or send the engine some unhealthy information. That's just what I'm thinking, I could be wrong.....40 hp is a lot though for an engine 1/5 liter smaller.
