Message: If they do im buying it. Ive wanted a ram for a long time but they are so slugish. I was looking at the SRT-10 but something just seems wrong about towing stuff with a $13,000 viper engine.

Message: The SRT version, at 6.1 liters, produces 425 net horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque -
* 425 bhp (318 kW) @ 6000 rpm, (69.8 bhp/L)
* 420 lb.-ft. (569 N•m) @ 4800 rpm
Wow, now that sounds like a truck that can get out of its own way.

Message: The current srt version has 505hp why would they stick the 6.1L in it? The 6.1 is not a truck engine. Although quite powerful in the heavy LX cars, they are a tuned more for performance and usual truck owners want to have a working truck. The spark curves are made for acceleration not towing and torque. The 6.1 is more costly to make in its current power levels for a simple 1/2 ton truck. Emissions are a hard hurdle to jump for trucks due to the number they sell and it is easier for them to make a larger displacement engine with the same power output of a smaller engine but will less emissions. That is one of the reasons why the diesel engines went from 5.9 to 6.7-because of the emissions.

Message: Well the 6.1 would definately put the Rumble in the Rumble Bee and some power in the Daytona Ram. It would be nice to have some go with the show. Leave the Viper engine in the Ram SRT-10 and use the 6.1 for the other "Special Model Rams" !!!
