Hi, owner of a 97 Dakota CC 5.2L 4x4 here. Since I've bought it, I noticed a whining noise when revving to redline. It's so annoying that I can't really hear the sound of the engine when going at WOT. I noticed other stock trucks do this, as well. My question is, what creates this noise? I'm assuming it's the intake, in which case I wouldn't mind spending around $50 on some cheap chrome intake (not going to spend $250 on a K&N). Anyways, can I get some advice? And if it is the intake, will a cheap intake at least give me more of a V8 sound? Thanks.

Watch COPS, you can hear it there too with modern day cop cars.
Pop a 4bbl on it and the noise will be covered up by the BAUAUAUAUAUAUAUWGH sound.
Still don't know what it is though! Could be fan, serpentine belt?

I have the same noise. Some have said it's the fuel injectors. The noise doesn't bother me the slightest.

I still think its the transmission, something to do with the converter if i rev ti in park it won't make that sound
