Message: I was looking at this link from the other thread
http://dodgeram.org/tech/gas/specs/5_2v8.htm
gives 318 magnum as:
1.916 inch int.
1.624 inch ex.
which is pretty close to what I measured:
1.92 inch int.
1.613 inch ex.
and possibly within the margin of error of my equipment/method.
The link for the 360 magnum gives the same valve diameters as your book, and in fact I have never seen bigger figures quoted anywhere for any 360 ever.
But then again, this is the first time I have found any reference to the 318 valves being bigger than that - so you never know.

Correction - this applies only to intake valves, the 360 info. at
http://dodgeram.org/tech/gas/specs/5_9v8.htm
gives 1.617 inch for 360 magnum exhaust.
Which makes me wonder - is there possibly an issue fitting 2.02 intake valves to some of these engines ?
The 2.02s are a bloody close fit with 1.6 exhaust valves.

Message: No fit issues. 360 Magnums have exactly the same size intake and exhaust valves as all prior 360's. The heads easily accept 2.02" intake valves, even 2.08" intake valves (thanks to valves opening on the centerline of the cylinder-even the 318 can do this), just like 360LA and 340's. Mopar Performance even sells Magnum heads with 2.02" intake valves.

Message: Message to BMac
I have now pulled the heads off my 2000 360 magnum motor and the valves are exactly the same size as the ones on my 1993 318 magnum.
In other words - they are bigger than 360 LA valves

Message: Thanks Stevie!
Now I am wondering about the older engine or if this Mopar Performance book is misprinted!
It seemed like a misprint to me but it was in other places stating the same thing.

Message: 40 thousandths of an inch is quite a bit when you are comparing something like that. I work for a company that makes timing gear sets and 40 thousandths over or undersized is a whole lot. Chevrolets new HFV6 motors are even worse on dimensions. They deal with microns (millimeters) insteads of inches.

Message: It is if you have the right equipment and not all CNCs are that accurate, we use a lot of Dawoo (sp?). I think that most of our dimensions give you like 60 microns (millimeters ) or about 2 thousandths of an inch.

Message: it depends on the size of parts you are machining and what size machine as well
a CNC with accuracy to like .0005 and have a 100" travel would be OBSCENELY expensive
