Message: You know thats the problem with America today, because so many road challanged (not to mention undereducated) people over here, we can only dream of a interstate with no speed limit. Montana didn't have one years back. But because the hilbilies from Alabama started driving up there they changed it to 65!

Message: I think they changed it because of federal pressure. The accident rate didn't change significantly.
Even if I could drive 100mph, I wouldn't. The average driver on the road is a complete moron. How many times has some one waited until you're right behind them, then changed lanes and cut you off? How many 18 wheelers change lanes without looking? How many people insist on riding in the left lane and blocking up traffic for miles? Imagine you doing 100mph when that happens.
No, as a group, we are just about the most stupid, inattentive, and rude drivers on the planet.

Message: 1. the vid definitely is from the German Autobahn. I am living in Switzerland but I often drive to visit my parents in Germany.
2. unfortunately the R/T was floored to reach top speed. The resons are: 1. air resistance/drag (whatever might be the right expression) at speeds over 100mph is rising disproportionately high; 2. I didn't make a helpful cam change because my engine already ran 148'000 km. My current modifications are: K&N, M1 intake manifold, 52mm FB throttle body, Mopar programmer, race cat, Gibson headers and dual exhaust.

Don't forget that drivers in Europe especially in Germany are used to higher speeds and they also have to pass a more complex test for their drivers license. You have to dive serveral hours with a licensed driving instructor down town, on national roads and on the Autobahn. Another helpful think is the law. You are only allowed to pass on the left side and slower cars must use the right lane.

Tim

Message: I have had my 01, 4.7 QC up to 125mph with the 3.55's in it. I haven't tried it yet with the 3.92's.
Before you start talking about raising the BS flag, keep in mind, my 01, 4.7, QC, has the manual tranny, several minor mods that I have dynoed, and puts out over 260HP and 360ft/lbs of torque at the Crank. I obviously also have the SuperChips tuner, which raises the speed limiter past 120mph
Now before your liberal, don't speed types even TRY and flame me for this,
This was done on a divided hwy, rural TX, South of Houston (288). Around 2 am, and nobody on the raod. NO cars to pass, no intersections, no curves, etc. Only me in the truck, etc. No danger to ANYONE.

Message: Uhh... conservatives object to speeding, too.
No one can say that they are a danger to no one on the road. If you plaster yourself on the pavement, the police, fire and rescue crews must respond, and they risk their lives just being there cleaning up the guts.

Message: The 125 mph should be easy for an RT. I used a Garmin 175 to record a run of 137.5 mph on my Dakota.
Anyone that says they have never exceeded the speed limit is either lying or has never driven.

Message: AWWWWW BullSheeeet HMMMMMMM. first you need to learn how to work it (press the own button)!
Not only can you just pass on the left hand side of the Autobahn(which makes sence in some Perspectives). But if some one flips you off and you flip them off right back you get fined!!! now I can just imaging some guy going about 100 KM (63 MPH) on the left hand side, I pass the guy on the right making a traffic volation in the Prossess.

Message: @ Shoe
I know, doesnt look fast. First it always looks slower on vids and second the acceleration from 60-125mph isn't fast. On the 1/4 mile my R/T ran best 15.21sec with stock tires. I urgently would need a more aggressive cam but I guess that wouldn't be a good idea after 148000km.
Nevertheless a non turboed/supercharged V6 isn't a danger anyway - you never will reach that speed ;)

Message: ok. i didnt even bother watching the video. but i have a 4 cyl dak and i've been over 100 with 32" tires on stock gears. 125 is really not that impressive for an r/t. I don't mean to be an @$$, but that 3.4 liters extra should get you more than that....

Message: ...I don't know what would be possible with the R/T, what I know is that the speedometer ends at about 125 mph at 4'200 RPM. More should be possible but I guess the speedo cable wouldn't survive that.
I guess it is impessive to drive 125mph with the R/T especially because we don't talk about a 5sec topspeed test. Everytime I drive to Germany (about 250km from here one way) I drive about one hour at speeds of 110-125mph and the Dakota is still fine. In my opinion the Dakota is a great pickup especially because it is not built for these speeds. I love it.
My 2 cents
