i saw on tv that jeep was making it an option that they were putting in deisels into there jeeps. i wonder if u can stuff one into a dakota. i figured that jeep wasnt going to put massive gearing in their luxury jeeps i figured i gotta chance. but its just a thought. -shappi

yeah those are little 4 banger diesels i saw one once. they arent very powerful. actually not powerful at all but if you want to put it in your dak im sure i can be done with a hacksaw and a welder.

i read that they are putting a 4.8 litre v6 diesel in the 08 daks.. and the jeep diesels are beasts, my buddy has one anmd it GOES

yes, cummins will be providing v-6 diesels for durangos/dakotas and like a 5.6 v-8 diesels for 1500s
the 6.7 I6 will remain in the 2500/3500
1990 sport RC SB, 1995 318drivetrain, 3.92 gears (came with truck) Powertrax "traction system", 95 dash/steering wheel, hearthrob exhaust, headers, cutout after y-pipe, necessary electric fan add-a-leafs, 30x9.5 mud tires, cranked T-bars, AR 39 15x8 rims, grill guard, roll bars

Well good look because the small 2.8 I4 is already been discountinued over here in the US. But might can ship you a liberty form Europe over here and then do you a engine swap...

Cummins/Case/Consolidated Engines made a 3.9L B4 diesel that uses basically the same internals as the 5.9L B6. Case used it in alot of their constuction equipment, Dodge used it in some of their heavy duty vans (UPS).
Should be a fairly easy swap into a Dakota.

The Cummins 4.3 V6 as tested in "Diesel Power" was rated at 270HP-425ftlbs twist.. And again, thats from a 254 cubic inch Diesel. Just shows that are the 4.7L gas could be producing up to 290 HP with enginers the German owned company really cared.
Anyway.I just wonder if buy any chance,the same option would be offerd in the Dakota?

so what does the 4.3 diesel's performance have ANYTHING to do with the 4.7 gas?

Well you can't tell me that a 230HP 287 cub V8 factory specs is acceptable! the very so called smart enginers could boost it up to around 270 HP and should!
