Message: Nice to see some are paying attention and learning from this site; I've learned quite a bit here myself over the years. I think you'll be pleased with the cam swap Josh - I didn't dyno, but seat of pants feel was that the cam swap gave me about as much of a gain as the custom PCM flash (likely similar to the gain you got from superchips). That was with the HO cams, you'd see more with a bigger cam. Many of us have done this ourselves, let us know if you'd like tips on how to get around needing the specialty tools some think they need. The timing chain wedges can be easily cut from wood; you won't have to disassemble much in front of the engine if you use these to make sure the timing chain adjusters don't move. The job is a bit involved, but getting the valve covers on and off is really the hardest part. If you see a post from Graphite Dak (he posts lots of great info), clicking on his signature will get you a link to where he did a great write up on this swap with lots of good pictures.
BTW, I'm so cheap I sprung to have gears changed in both axles, but I had the 3.55's. ;-)

Message: The cam and chip will work quite well together - they aren't really doing opposite things, so much as different things. Engines can be thought of as having 2 "brains". The elctronic brain is the PCM - it decides how much spark advance the engine gets, and has an effect on fuel mapping, and often some transmission shift characteristics. This is what the superchips helps. The cam can be thought of as the engine's mechanical brain - controling the breathing - the timing and amount of the charge going into the cylinders, and influencing much of an engines power characteristics. The intake will have some effect on this too. You will definitely benefit from both, possibly more so than the sum of either mod done alone. In science, when things work so well together that its better than the sum of either alone, its called a symbiotic relationship - and that is often how well planned engine mods work. That's why you'll sometimes hear people saying mods should be planned to work as a total package. Glad to hear your exhaust mods worked out well; you're off to a very good start on a well planned, modified package !

Message: Josh,
I am running the HO Cams and Superchips and they compliment each other very nicely. You will be happy.
