Look at a coffee filter (ain't got one? Tear open a tea-bag.)and spread it out. What do you see?
Hint: thin spots.

Oil filters are made of the same kind of media, just thicker.
Thin spots mean dirt can get re-circulated, and cause wear.

Oil filters designed for synthetic oil are made to higher standards. Clean the oil better.

Amsoil 'Ea' filters are a whole different concept. Clean far better.

IsItJustMe,

Was it really that tough to figure out?

All we were trying to do is give a word description to help figure which might be better and why.

Napa's "gold" filter is all I use. It's made by Wix. Best filter there is!

trucky,
Love your attitude!

ScojoDak,
Wix does make very good filters. How fine does the NAPA Gold, by Wix, filter? How many microns?

Everyone knows that Amsoil filters are made from recycled toilet paper.

Btw,shatto, AMSOIL does not recommend comparing filters based on micron ratings.

No, Franz Oil Filters used a roll of toilet paper. Running the oil through six inches of toilet paper to filter it is proven to be a good idea. The problem is, none of us could always install the roll so it wouldn't have a crease, allowing the oil to channel and make the entire thing useless.

Should you care to check any of Steve Roark's posts, you can go to his web site where he has the technical information; the new 'Ea' Filter has no paper and is manufactured to stop smaller stuff than any other commercially available oil (and air) filter, whilst (little English lingo, there) allowing better flow through the media.

One, therefore may deduce that; the filter that removes the most contaminants will have cleaner oil coming out of it, and that cleaner oil will do the job of lubricating better than contaminated and/or dirty oil.
The Amsoil Ea filter has been labratory tested and proven to do what Amsoil advertises it will do.

don't tell the kids that or they'll go around cutting filters open and use the innards to tee pee a house with. The neighbors will have to call a haz mat team out to clean it up! By the way, is there any difference in filtering power between regular length Charmin and the 1,000 sheet rolls?

Actually, they recommended the tightest roll possible. The floo-floo stuff got pushed down and wadded-up at the bottom of the housing.
