Message: well if i had to choose over another R/T vs 4.7 5spd vs 4.8 5spd i would take the chevy. just because the way they respond to heads and cam and all other bolt ons. you should check out streetfire.net or dragtruck and see the fast silverados out there. but then theres the lightning that can go in the 11's fairly easy.

i even raced a 5.3 chevy with a 4.6L v8 ford explorer and walked away from the thing.

Message: actually the 3.8/5.3 respond way better to bolt ons than 4.7/5.2/5,9 heads and cam on the magnum motors barely make around 320 at the wheels. iv seen lots of 5.3's with heads and came push around 370 at the wheels

putting down 309 hp at the wheels
imagine if that puppy had 2 more cylinders
now tell me mopars dont respond as well as chevys with performance parts...

Ok 239vs287..
Just depends on the modle of the truck.. I'll take a 239 if its a pre 97.. However, I'll exept the 4.7V6 only if I had a 5 or 6 speed manuel.
