a/c will not blow cold when idling in neutral, only when in drive. is there a reason for this? i checked it with a gauge and it reads normal.

is the AC comp clutch staying engaged when in neutural, you will see the center of the pulley spinning if the AC is working

mabey you are low on charge, this will be checked with a AC guage at a specific temp there should be a specific pressure

on systems i am fermiliar with there is a sight glass on the filter/dryer canister
with the AC on full and fan on hi, look inside the sight glass, if the system is low on charge, but the compressor is still runnung (there is a hi and lo limit switch that will not allow the compressor to run if pressure is hi or lo) inside the sight glass you will see foam or bubbles passing through it. if this is the case add refrigirant untill the bubbles JUST dissappear. this will give you the proper charge.
what are you using for top up???
134a or R12, or some universal stuff
from my experiance the universal junk is not as efficient as what the system was designed for, you will not get peak cooling

if you do hav a sight glass it will be on the reciever/dryer, this should be located in the engine compartment, it is a round cylinder in line with one of the AC hoses, it is approx 4.5 inches in diameter and approx 8 inches tall,
just a round canister, there should be a fitting on top of it where the ac line goes over top of it, in this top fitting is where the sight glass will be located looking from the top down

good luck

did you use any thing but 134a when you toped up?
