Subject: G-Tech question IP: Logged
Message: Who here on the board owns a g-tech and what vechicle are you using it on. I just got mine and i don't really know what weight i should put on it for the truck. I also would like to know what the stock time for my 99 cc r/t would be?

Message: when we run mine on my friends we don't do the weight thing. i think your R/T weighs around 4200lbs, of course the guy that owned it also had a cc R/T so we just use his truck's weight for my truck. when he ran his R/T it was between 15.4-15.9 on the g-tech stock track times are 15.2-15.6 i think.

Message: Well my best with this setting is 16.371 @ 83.91mph.
60' 2.680
330' 6.970
1/8 10.558@ 69.10mph

Message: your not testing at the summit of mount everest, are you?
the elevation here is 2500ft, where we test, dry air. yours is?
is your truck stock? is the road straight, flat, & smooth?
when i had just a flowmaster muffler mine was running 16.4-with the motor pinging the whole run.
my truck has never ran worse than 16.6 and it runs constant 15.9s 16.1s
best for me is 15.77 at 89mph
2.2 60ft
1/8 10.04
0-60mph 7.2s
i think your g-teck is working right if your truck is stock. your 0-60mph matches up well to your overall quarter run. your 1/8 miles seems a little slow tho.

Message: well the road is straight and smooth but it I can only go about 1000 feet before i have to hit the brakes. Well i live in florida and it is like below sea level so i don't know if that is the problem and it seems like my truck is running like 200 degrees or something. It is close to the line where the 210 is. And do you know how the g-tech was setup in your runs. What weight and rpm redline?

Message: the truck should be running at its best at sea level or below. truck is running where it should temp wise. if you have to slow down at 1000ft thats why your times sucks. 1/4 mile is 1320ft
i'll have to talk to my friend but he is a very difficult person to talk to!

Message: well the road isn't quite 1320 so i can't get an accurate reading but i did get a better one just half an hour ago.
60' 2.520
330' 6.744
1/8 10.345 at 69.15mph
1000 13.469
60mph 7.878
1/4 16.167 at 82.75
I also made a custom ram air kit with dryer vent and i lost alittle of the time. 16.371 to 16.167 just by doing that little mod. I still don't know i guess i will try and think of a road that is long enough and try it from there.

Message: Ryan, just to clarify, the weight and rpm settings do not affect the G-Tech's speed and time measurements. You can put in anything, or nothing, then make your speed runs.
The times for your RT do look high though. My 02 QC 4.7 auto AWD runs 16.1's consistently on my G-Tech (with HO cams and a SuperChips essentially). It ran 16.4-16.5 without the programmer.
Note that I also saw a time increase (on the G-Tech) with an intake tube and cone filter vs. the stock intake setup.

Message: The best way to get an accurate weight of your truck would be to go to a truck stop with a scale; top off the fuel tank and drive up onto the scale and weigh it with you in it.
If you don't have a CB to talk to the clerk then you'll have to go inside to tell them you are on the scale.
I weighed my truck and it was 4500 pounds after I subtract my body weight. It is a 1999 Club Cab Sport 4x4 with the 5 speed and a 318. That was also with my toolbox in the bed which added like 150 pounds to the weight of the truck.
lol Tony, 5500 pounds for your truck is way off. You may have been looking at the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating or something which is the maximum recommended weight rating of your truck fully loaded.

Message: to make you feel better, we ran my friends R/T has headers and exhaust and his best was 16.5. i think the elevation is what killed it because a chevy SSR only ran in the 15s and so did a GTO 15s, srt8 300 ran 14.4s consistent. street bikes only were running 12s
a guy in a Nissan Titan wanted to race my friends R/T and he got smoked. my friend launched perfect with a .09 reaction and the guy in the Titan didn't no what he was doing.
