It's an instrument that will supposedly give you information like 0-60 mph, 1/4 mile times and speeds. Some people say they are very accurate, some say they are reasonably close and others say they are worth a sh!it. I would say they are probably good for gauging improvements between mods but not between different vehicles or as a substitute for reality.

have to agree with N56629 that "they're good for gauging improvements between mods but not between different vehicles or as a substitute for reality."

I'm planning on going to LACR soon to run the 1/4 and i think i will bring the g-tech with me to see how accurate it really is!!

From my own research and experience, I have the following:

o the older G-techs seemed to have the feedback about inconsistent/inaccurate results
o The newer G-Techs (SS and RR) did not have that feedback (yet anyway)
o I have an RR (after doing the above research), and it is very consistent in it's results, between vehicles and days (given the expectations based on the vehicles and weather)

If I use the same road, then results between vehicles is within the expectations for those vehicles. I.e, the 1/4 time delta between my AWD QC auto, and a friend's 2wd QC manual was about .5 sec. Since he was pinging a good part of the way, the .5 sec was consistent.

I can also make several runs during a day, and be within less then .1 sec for each run. Between days there are some variations due to weather conditions, but always has been less then .1 sec.

I do not have any actual track times to validate the G-Tech to "real" measured times, but again the times that I get, and that the 2wd QC get, are consistent with performance tests that have been published.

hey toolfan guess what?

like two weekends ago i was at LACR racing a motocross grand prix...

i got to drag down the whole 1/4 mile track on my dirt bike! (it was part of the 4 mile course) lol

but from the end all the way to the starting grid.

it was interesting, i topped out 5th gear probably by an eighth of the way down the track

cool Fed

i have been wanting to get my trans-go shift kit installed. before i head down to LACR.

we might go this friday with my friend's newly purchased R/T that was my other friends truck.

if he runs his and i don't bring mine, i will have a good idea of what i can run, because are trucks are about even.

lmao yep :-D

the funny thing is this guy is just as bad with abusing it if not worst. my other friend was wary of speeding tickets. this guy first time giving me and my other friend a ride in it goes 130mph in a bussy area. trannys started getting hot from him flooring it some much that it started shifting funny. kid is relentless.

his truck has full exhaust with Gibson headers, superchips, & trans-go shift kit. he got the truck for $6,500 and this truck is really good looking with the Hochkins lowering kit.

mine has cold air intake, flowmaster muffler.

proves that the 5.9 is no better than the 5.2 haha

i take him to about 75mph than he inches past.

haha woww!!

kid also needs a reality check

although i have done about 140 in mommy's BMW in a semi-busy freeway...in the carpool lane though ;) hahah

but yeah i think those facts also prove how beaten (nearly to death) and probably tired that poor 360 is.

its got about 10k miles on the 366ci but extremely hard ones.

my truck runs really strong. 157k miles on mine so i would still say the 366ci is in better sharp.

going to LACR tonight.
