Subject: Custom cold air intake IP: Logged
Message: Where exactly would the ideal spot for the air filter be? Behind the grill? Next to the fender? I have already moved it as far away as possible from the "heat sources." Pleasse help. I know there are a lot of "home brewed" intakes out there. Thank you

Message: I'm cheap, so I wrapped insulation around the filter box. I then ran a really sophistocated metal pipe, salvaged from my clothes dryer, from the intake to a spot, where I cut the rubber seal next to the radiator. I collect a lot more dirt and bugs that way.
If you get a proper tube, with a cone shaped filter on the end check out www.amsoil.com and the new cone shape filter. Or ask Steve Roark.

Message: Or put on a shaker hood like I have - it takes cold air directly from the outside - air passes go and collects some extra HP in the process. Drawback is $800, but it looks great too.

Message: I hear that luke. $800 is a lot if you don't have it. The good thing is that the price has come down. I paid about $950 when ProGlas made them. I think some like Stylin Concepts still ask that much. Cheaptruckparts.com sells for less, and they sell on eBay even cheaper ( $799 ) But by the time you get it installed and painted you can add another couple hudred $ . Not cheap, but just in looks alone it adds 50 HP LOL
