the number you wrote is a ratio
4.1:1 this is a ratio meaning that 4.1 turns of the input will turn the out put 1 turn
4.56:1 is 4.56 turns to 1 turn on the output

do you wanna race or do you want fuel economy??

im running 3.90s in my 90 dak 4x4, i get into the mud as often as possible, my truck started life with 3.55s
i also am running 33" tires (which also effects the final ratio) i run approx 2100 rpm down the road (518 tranny with overdrive)
these gears seem quite high to me but some may call me a bit old school, ive never really heard of using 4.56s on the highway at all, but i dont know what kind of ratio your tranny offers,
what rpm you run down the road?

If your truck is a daily driver, and you are gonna stay with a 31" or smaller tire. You should get the 4.10's. A few guys here with larger tires run the 4.56's and seem to like them.
