Subject: Body Lift Question IP: Logged
Message: I'm planning on doing a 3" body lift very soon. I have a couple of questions. First, could I do the job with the help of a friend? The kit itself is only $200-$300, and I don't feel like spending a bunch of money for a shop to do it. What's the basic process of performing the installation? I know it requires lifting the bed off the frame, but what about the cab?
Secondly, what would be the max tire size? I know 33s will fit no problem. Would 35s fit (with front torsion bar crank)? Thanks a lot, guys.

Message: kit comes with complete instructions. you and a friend can do it in 1/2 a day with a case of beer. not worth spending 500 bucks on pro installation. you gotta lift the cab and the bed. couple of jacks, no problem. just take your time and be careful.
you could probly fit the 35's with the lift and cranked torsion bars, but you might need to trim the fenders a little anyways.

Message: I'd also need new gears. Some 4.56s wouldn't be bad. :)
I really don't think I have the skill to install new gears. It seems like a pretty tough process. Would a shop charge a lot for installation?

Message: if ur just putting a body lift on a dakota.. u can not fit 35's.. unless u get some really skinny ones.. and i doubt u can tuck them then.. but the body lift is easy to install.. u have to lift the bed yes.. and the cab as well.. it will take a few ppl to lift the cab up.. unless u have some floor jacks..therefore just get a block of wood ontop of the jack and lift up one side at a time and put the blocks in.. but if this is the first body lift ur doing.. its probably going to take you a long time to get it done.. any probs w/it email me at yfzracer5@hotmail.com i can probably lead you through it..

Message: I know for a fact that you can fit 35X12.50 Goodyear MTR's with a 3" body lift and triming the frt bumper and the rear inner fenderwell as long as you keep the stock rims.
