Join the resistance!!!! I hear we are going to hit close to $4.00 a gallon by next summer and it might go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action. Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea.
This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day" campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.
BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work. Please read on and join with us! By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $1.50 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $2.81 for regular unleaded in my town. Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50 - $1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the
marketplace..... not sellers. With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas. But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.
Here's the idea:
For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL. If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.
But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do! Now, don't wimp out at this point.... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people.
I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us sends it to at least ten more (30 x 10 =3D 300) ... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 =3D 3,000)...and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers. If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE
>>>>HUNDRED MILLION >>>>PEOPLE!!!
Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all. (If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do is send this to 10 people.... Well, let's face it, you just aren't a mathematician. But I am, so trust me on this one.)
How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!!
I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you?
Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. I suggest that we not buy from EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $1.30 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN.
We have more power than you think - if we unite and stay committed.

Without using "less" gas there will be no difference in consumption. If you are real lucky you might be able to drive a few gas stations out of business. You'll be able to create long lines at the unboycotted stations. Won't that be wonderful? The unboycotted station will raise the price of gas because of increased demand. That's not exactly what you are expecting. The big oil companies will simply sell their oil to the highest bidder. All in all they are not going to lose any sleep over it.
If you think it will work, knock yourself out because the idea has been around since the 80's.

From what I read gas is sold in a common pool to prevent under-cutting. Exxon/Mobil may get it`s gas from Chevron or visey-versey,just what I`ve read. Either way if everyone stopped buying from Exxon/Mobil they would still have "product" just sitting in the tanks not making any money. They would not raise the price to get rid of it. I could see other stations "running out"(read collusion for the common good of the industry) forcing the issue. All this is moot because I doubt enough people will boycott to make a difference,maybe at most a 10% drop in sales, if that. They are not sweating this one,I wish it would happen though. They suck.

The would work better if the media heavily advertises the cheapest gas stations... the reward would cause one gas station to take all others buisness... forcing a drop in prices.

Unless you reduce your use of gas they will continue to sell all of the gas you can use. If you increase the demand from one source that source will be forced to increase its price, not drop it. When you run the "approved" sources dry where are you going to run to get your gas? You are going to go to XOM of course. Now that you can only get gas from them what do you think the price will be? Well, higher of course.
The only way to reduce the price is to increase supply and reduce demand. I know you all think capitalism sucks but that's the way it is.

Bill O'Reilly recently said while on fox news, that after hearing that the CEO of exxon-mobil was paid 400 million dollars due to his retirement, said that he won't buy gas from exxon-mobil anymore, and encouraed others to do the same.
I usually don't like Bill O'Reilly, but on some things he actually does the right thing

I am a representative for MPG-CAP. To give you guys the skinny, it is a $2.00 tablet that you put in your tank at every fillup. It does not CHANGE your gasoline like an additive, rather it goes with your gas to the combustion chamber where it is deposited on valve faces, top of the cylinder, and spark plugs to make the gasoline burn more completely and give you more HP and better MPG. The first 2 or 3 tank fulls you want to use 4 tabs per fillup as a loading phase, then you drop the dose to one cap per 20 gallon fillup. People using the product, like myself, are getting anywhere from a 10-30% increase in MPG. A blister-pack of 10 costs $19.95 plus shipping.

Oh, so you're familiar with the product? You've used it before? You've got BAD gas milage or no improvement?
Or, you haven't even given it a chance?
I went from 14 mpg to 16.5 after two fillups using four MPG-CAPS each. If you want, I could send you some.

There have been magic potions around for a long time. Instead of putting four tablets in my tank, at two bucks each, I could put in eight bucks worth of gas and get the same increase in MPG that you are claiming.
I've been around long enough to know that if there was anything, ANYTHING AT ALL, that would increase your gas milage by 20-30%, everybody in the world would already be using it. Even if you managed to increase gas milage by 10% most people would already be using your magic potion.
I've seen a lot of claims but this one of the most rediculous I have ever come across. You would be lucky if these so-called deposits didn't ruin your engine. I wouldn't put it in my gas even if you sent it to me free including shipping.

Holy crap! There are people stupid enough to spend that much on something that doesn't work?
Never mind. The answer is obviously yes, because those products are still being advertized.

I'm almost topped out at 135 mph. What's wrong with 80 mph? Do you want to go back to the government mandated double nickle?
The fact is it doesn't cost me any more to go 80 mph now than it did in 1981 when you adjust the price of gas for inflation. You would have a lot more money to spend on gas if got rid of all your luxury toys like internet, cell phones and video games.
