Message: I have a 03 RC dakota R/T
I am looking to get the truck to about 0-60 in
6-6.25 sec. I have about $600 I am willing to part with any ideas or what I will need to spend to make it happen.

Message: Mods so far
Homebrew intake
TPS @ .78V
AIT relocate
That's all that has been done so far, so where will $600 get me as far as most HP to cost... besides NOS. I was thinking Hypertech & TB
or M1 and TB

Message: HS 1.7 roller rockers are 300 from john mercedes. they will get u 15hp at the rear wheels or 3 tenths in the quarter mile as per my experience. than for the other 300 go find a used 50 or 52mm F&B throttle body. i got my used 52mm for 275 bucks. new they are 380-480. dont settle for any lesser throttle bodies because these are unarguabley the best out there. that will get u another 10-12 hp at the wheels.

Message: Do the 1.7's need anything special as far as installation. I figured they might not work without new valve covers.
I had a chance to test my truck from 0-60 with a friend of mine who is a cop.
0-60 6.78 sec (My rear tires are pretty worn)
Does this seem about standard for a RC R/T

Message: that seems alittle slow but makes sense if your tires are worn. i would try running at the dragstrip instead of trying to figure your 0-60 mph. you should be running high 14's. im in the same sitution as you, 03 rc R/T with k&n intake. i have read the M1 really improves alot.

Message: I was thinking about an m1....I have about $600 to spend on some mods. I think a new 50-52mm TB
and 1.7 RR are my best $ to power mods from what I have read....they also seem the easiest to do in a few hrs.
What options do I have as far as 1.7's (no cam swap in the future) so non adj. would be fine
I just don't want to get new covers or mod baffles ect..... Do any RR fit this description?

I also rotated my tires so I had goo tread in the rear 0-60 in 6.64 sec

Message: Order a B&G M1 PCM flash from www.bgchrysler.com for $430 if you want maximum bang for the buck - a throttle body will help you a bit but nowhere near as significantly as a PCM flash, M1 2bbl, or a good set of mid/long-tube headers will for your R/T. The 1.7's will help a decent amount as well.
Another big thing you shouldn't overlook is installing a set of drag radials (use all the time), or a set of 16" wheels with street slicks (swap out for racing) - this will make a huge difference on how you launch.

Message: Well I finally installed my HS 1.7's I must say the install was about as easy as it gets only about 2.5 hrs and most of that was prep work.
As far as performance It definatly added some good amounts of torque. I am very very happy with my $320 investment

Message: Well I just got the superchips programmer and the benifits are just about as good as the 1.7's
It pulls much harder from 3300 up. I decided to take a few runs with my Gtech just to get some #'s
#1 0-60 6.23s 1/4 mile 14.42 93.5
#2 6.18 14.28 94.0
#3 6.28 14.51 93.2

Message: i ask this because, from a reliability standpoint, is it a good idea to put a higher ratio arm on top of a cam thats seen 50000 miles of relative ease pushing on a lower ratio arm? does changing the ratio also affect the angle of the pushrod in its bore? i have always thought that there are better (well not better, safer) ways to get more power than altering valve train geometry. thoughts anyone?

Message: Stock is 1.6, as far as the rest of your questions I have no idea but I really dont think swapping to a higher ratio is going to hurt. Quite a few people have done this swap and I haven't read anyone having anyproblems yet.

Message: I have the Harland Sharp 1.7rr's on my 5.2. Just make sure you don't drop the rods under the intake manifold -- cuase suddenly lots more parts get to come off to retreive them :)
My truck is definately quicker than it was stock. (I have a 50mm tb, cai, gibson headers, and magnaflo muffler too, though.)
I used this page as my guide..

Message: dano,
it DOES put more stress on the valvetrain. probably not very significan cause everyone goes up a tenth .10 it's a very common practice you just wanna weigh the extra wear and tear and will that end up being the demise of your engine in the long run. probably will die from something else so 8% more stress won't really matter much.
to compare it would be about as dangerous as a 1 psi boost supercharger.
