Depends on your other mods on performance....sometimes it can destroy any backpressure you have...but it makes a hugh sound difference with a performance exhaust....the sound will get more ricey over time though....but at first it sounds amazing...

99 4x4 CC 5.2L..... Dealer replaced cat at 60K. Truck did not run right > Took it up my test highway hill and could only get 76 MPH over the top, about 4 miles or so. This is better then an 8% grade. Took it to a muffler shop I have delt with all my life and told him to replace it. When he took it off there was no rattles and it was nice and clean with great vision al the way through. He put one of his after market cats on and started it up. We both noticed it sounded more throughty. Took it up test hill and WALLA. Hit 95 and still pulling hard at less then half way up. What a differance. Still got the OEM CAT in my shop. Might work good o a V6 or 4 banger.

OBIO3- just curious as to how much it cost you to have that aftermarket cat installed? Does your truck have a single cat or 3 cats like my '01 QC 4x4? Not sure how many cats DC put on the 5.2L in '99. I would like to have the main cat replaced, but then I wonder if it would make much of a difference due to the other 2 cats still being restrictive. Thanks in advance for any replies.

I thought I was getting a performance cat, then discovered the stock one is pretty darn good. Check before spending $$.

Shatto...Thats just it...most non dodge dealership shops carry aftermarket and it ends up being alot cheaper than stock....unless its running bad and you below i think 80,000 miles...cause than the factory is required to replace it.

That got me kind of scared that my 99 had three cats too, I checked the FSM and it does indeed only have one catalytic converter.

One cat on my 99 . Dodge put the OEM cat on free but as I stated, it was garbage. the original OEM cat was better though. The aftermarket instaled was 145 bucks. Looking through it,we both looked. we could see no diferance and size was the same but I tell you my truck came alive better then new or seemed so. Anyway the sound was deeper so soon as we started it we new something was differant but no clue what. There was not to be nothing special about this new cat. Just a replacement. And I like WALLA myself. what's the diff. You got the point I think.
Jason52..... You and several others in here need to do some serious resurch on back presure in the exhaust system. If you was to dril a hole in your exhaust infront of your first cat and installed a LOW PRESURE guage in it, you would discover there is only at max 2 to 3 pounds of presure there REVED UP. At 4 pounds you have serious trouble that needs fixing like somehow the exhaust is partially plugged. I don't know how so many got it in there heads we got and need all this back preasure. IT WOULD RUIN YOUR ENGINE. Now... As I sign out just one more thing to correct...... MR WEBSTER>>>> YOU MIGHT WELL BE SURPRISED JUST HOW SMART I AM.I have forgot more then you will ever know and I'm still pretty darn smart. Have a good day

So many problems .... So little time

I don't think so. Go back to 2nd grade. These are not one or two typos, this is illiteracy.
