what to get? i have a 2004 4.7 dakota 2wd ext cab that i drive every day for work. i want to know from guys who've done both or know of somone who did. with the 3.55 gears i have now, which would be the better mod. i'm getting around 16 mpg now. i can see how in a 4x4 the gears wouldn't hurt mileage cause it was probably straining more anyway, but will it hurt my gas mileage. i'm guessing it will a little bit or else dodge would be offering 4.10s as a factory option. help?/@!

This is an old thread I posted when I had mine done. I've been very pleased with the outcome:

Hope this helps you...

I did both, you'll feel the 4.10 more than the cam change (it will set you back more $$ too). While you're always pushing the front axles with a 4x4, it isn't exactly straining...

Lead, follow, or get out of the way
