So I go into this local performance shop to see about chips and or programmers.[r they the same thing?] The guy behind the counter tells me he can get me the Hypertech programmer for $307 out the door and that it is the only product for a 2002 slt 4.7. I asked about headers because I already have the cat-back and he tells me that Dodge already has fairly decent exhaust. Now is the programmer for this truck only done by this co.? W/o searching the internet for other brands I have a suspicion there are others available, but his price does seem pretty good. I do not mind about the headers since I would imagine about $1200 for a good set installed. I am just wondering if he does not have the correct info, or is he getting a kickback from Hyperteck. Anyone here have the Hyperteck programmer for the 4.7 2002 dakota? Thanks in advance.

I am not sure what is available for the 2002, but I have a hypertech for the '97 5.2, and it worked very well. I def. saw an increase in milage, and there was a noticable gain in performance on the 87 octane tune. I never ran the 93 tune.
As for headers, that shop guy is right. The stock exhaust manifolds flow pertty good. Until you open up your intake, you won't need heaers.

but hypertech being the only one available? Sounds a little, well, for lack of a better word, untrue. I know what he is offering is a good deal, but the only one available? How many were offered for your application?

I have a superchips programmer for my 03 4.7 and was under the believe that that was the only programmer out for the 4.7s. I have never seen a hypertech for a 4.7.

well, I guess now that I have cooled off, I realize that I had left out to you guys that I have a california legal truck. That is one of the questions he had asked me and I would beleive that would make a bit of a difference. sorry

hypertech has no programmer for the 4.7. superchips is the only one with the 4.7. guy behind the counter lied to you. or got the names mixed up. my 4.7 programmer is a superchips.
also you can get a superchips programmer for $285 and free shipping.
