Message: A clogged cat can hinder perf. You can check exh. system back pressure before the cat to verify this. A normally functioning cat will not hinder perf. one bit.

Message: hey man,
when i first bought my 2000 4.7l dak it was in the service deparment. the reason is becuase the guy that had it before me had put true dual exhuast with no cats and flowmasters, what a combo. well th e sales rep had told me that they put the stock exhuast back on (DUMB ASSES) they had put a bad converter in and when i drove it you could really notice it. so i hope i have answered your question.

Message: When I had my 98 4x4 3.9, The cat went at 30K. One thing I noticed was a slight whistle coming from under the hood when under mid to full throttle. The Dodge tech told me it was the exhaust coming out of the manifold because it had nowhere else to go. I noticed sluggish performance for about 2 weeks before the whistling, but 2 days after the whistling started the truck lost all power and the check engine light came on. I drove it right to dodge and they replaced the cat. Funny thing is they replaced the whole exhaust from the cat back, they said they had to because it was a club cab.
Anyway, hope this helps

Message: RTHOMAS,
WHAT I MEAN IS WHEN I BOUGHT MY DAK, THE CONVERTER WAS AFU. SO THAT REALLY HENDERED THE PERFORMANCE. THE SERVICE GUYS WERE DUMB ASSES FOR TAKING THE DUAL EXHUAST OFF AND PUTTING THE STOCK BACK ON. I TOOK IT UPON MY SELF TO FIX THAT PROBLEM.
