Subject: Control Arm Bushings IP: Logged
Message: Are they available for these truck ? or Do I have to get the arm too ??
If you have any experience with this , please let me know as the bushings are cracked , showing some signs of wear and after replacing the balljoints today , still have this knock when turning . Also , juring reassembly , I notice the calipers are looser than other vehicles I`ve had , is this typical for this model , could it be the prob??

Message: Yes it is a problem. The control arm parts are easy to come by,any parts store will have them. But your calp's should not be loose. If all the hardwear is in place then it must be wornout. Start by replacing the bolts that hold the calp's inplace. Also check for any spots on the calp's that have the rust rubed off. Anything that looks shinny might be were the loose spot is. Your looking for things that look like they've been rubbin or banging together.

Message: You will find that all vehicles at one time or another will have cracked bushings. Just like the tires on a vehicle, they are made of rubber products. I just replaced mine with new parts from carquest auto parts. I also have a "93" dakota 4x4 w/318 and auto tranny. My truck has just over 200,000 miles on it.
As far as the calipers go, they should be quite snug when they are attached to the vehicle properly. However, the retaining bolts that hold the calipers on run through rubber bushings just like most newer vehicles. I use newer vehicles, because some older vehicles used a spring metal to take up the slack in the caliper. These bushings can be replaced, I changed mine around the same mileage that you have on your vehicle.
Now if its the rotor that is loose, this is normal on most vehicles. When you put the tire and rim back on, the rotor will tighten up.
