Message: I did it, yes I did, I got my 4x4 stuck in waist deep water. It was the wall of water that went over the cab that made me realize how deep it was. Good thing it was crystal clear...yeah right. Water up to my seats inside...
Since it sat in the water for 3 hours awaiting help, the engine is fine (removed the plugs to shoot the water out...K&N allowed a lot of water into the intake), but the tranny was full of water. The fluid was peptobismol in color. I didn't run it at all, and the mechanice used 3 cases of fluid to get all the water out, but warned me that the bands (automatic) are made of a water soluable adhesive (so did a Dodge service dept) They gave me 6 months max on it, so should I go with the $2200 remanfactured Dodge, the $1800 rebuild of mine, or the $2200 for the Jet A500 Dakota tranny? Pros and Cons to each???
Lastly, the mechanice didn't realize that I had a LSD, so he didn't add the addiditve. I drove it 15 miles to the dealer (crap loads of noise from the rear getting there, bought and added 1 bottle on the spot. I had to drive 1100 miles back home, it still makes a little noise and I just added the second bottle. If it continues to be noisy how bad is that? Do you think it will mean a new diff? (well gears anyway)

Message: Sorry to hear that Boomer. If I were going to spend the money I would go with the jet tranny. I had read and heard that they are really good. I could be wrong though. Might not hurt to have the rear end checked out. The ring and pinion should be ok but the clutch paks in the lsd might have gotten a little damaged from not having the additive in there. Hope everything goes well.

Message: Well, the rear is about shot. Every corner it makes more and more noise. So I've been wanting 3.90 or 3.92 and I found a place that will give me 3.91 (go figure) for $1,300.00 parts and labor. Not bad since the dealer wants $550 + 200 labor to rebuild mine. So I'll save a little bit in the long run. I need the extra pull for the boat (22' SeaRay).

Message: The 3.90, 91, & 92 are all basically the same. 1/100 or 2/100 make no diff at all. I have found a good price on front and rear 3.90's for mine that I plan on getting soon as I have the $$.
