What electric fans are people running? I see the viper fan and flexalite fan. Is anyoneone using junkyard fans? There were alot of v8s ford/gm with air that used elec fans.

I was told that a fan from an Olds mark 8 will work great, good luck finding one, every one I found in 4 junkyards had the fan pulled.

I'm looking for an electric fan that will fit the space that my clutch-driven fan now occupies.
I want to leave the stock electric fan and radiator shroud, just fit a big electric to that big hole in the shroud.

Fortunatly, you have a lot of choices. But pick your fan according how and where you use your truck. If you're rock crawling in the mojave, you need a huge fan. If you're commuting in Anchorage, a cheap 15" fun will be fine.

There are a lot of factory fans to choose from. Ford Crown Vics and Mustangs are pretty good. Just cruise through the bone yard and look for a likely candidate.

Or, pick up a copy of Street Rodder magazine. There's dozens of ads for fans in there. One of them should fit your needs.

Electric fans?

For what application?

I'm only using one fan, the electric fan my 4.7 came with. I got rid of the belt clutch and fan over 4 yrs ago. NEVER has run hot since!

The 180 t-stat helps some.

I was reading in Haynes about removing the clutch fan. I can't remove the whole thing, obviously because the belt need somewhere to go. What do I remove? I want to go with electric fans.

Well, I don't know about your 5.2, but on the 4.7, you simply turn the clutch and fan, in one unit, off the pulley. Very easy to do. The pulley is pressed on, so you don't even need a nut, etc.

Reminds me of the guy, that took his fan off his clutch and put the clutch back on his 4.7, thinking the pulley would come off.

I was TRYING to get rid of that rotational weight in the first place, not to mention the fan turning. Dynoed to have gains!

But alas, I don't know if it's the same on the 5.2.
