I think you can use a t-stat for a 5.2/5.9, but it needs a couple grooves snipped into it to fit right. Don't quote me on that though...

GraphiteDak has used a 180 and 160 in his 4.7...maybe he'll stop in.

Autozone robert shaw t stat. You have to cut a small grove with a hack saw to make it fit.

Or use wire cutters, that's what I did.

Others cut no groove, and had no leaks it it functioned well.

Remember, the gasket is a rubber type O-ring, that is re-used. Dont go scraping it off.

Leave the cap off on statrt up to bleed the air. There is a bleed screw, just leave the cap off a few minutes, works as well.

i got my 180 from Jet Performance. If they dont have it listed on their site yet (which they should by now) just call or write them, they do sell it and it is an exact fit.

Yup. Used the t-stat from the local parts store for the 5.2/5.9 whatever. Snipped a grove with tin snips.

Used a 160 once. Got a code, swapped the 180 back in to find out problem was not the 160 t-stat. But I think the 180 is perfect.

I live in Phoenix so I don't need the 195. :)

Anyway. Been over a year with the 180. No problems.
