Message: On my 93 5.2L I have the EGR set-up. Is the EGR something I need? Can I get a manifold W/O the EGR and still make my motor run?

Message: if you want rid of your EGR,
1. get a new EGR gasket
2. Trace it in sheet metal
3. Cut it out (not the hole)
4. bolt it inplace with the new gasket.
viola! blocked EGR.

Voila, you are then a felon, by removing or disabling an emissions device. EGR valves lower NOx emissions and keep the intake slightly cooler, and actually add to power slightly. Don't remove it.

So by being introduced into the combustion chamber, it will lower combustion chamber temps enough so that the Nitrogen doesn’t react with the other compounds and is passed unchanged out the tailpipe thus not contributing to smog."

"it's still hot air."
But it's cooler than the products of a full fuel/air mix igniting. The point is that the temperature of the gases that end up igniting is cooler than without EGR. That's why it works, that's why it reduces NOx emissions.

OK
I'll hold the gas tank for 30min, and then the intake for 30min. You hold the tailpipe for 60min. We'll see who is more comfortable after that hour.

No, I can see that you still don't get it. Obviously, the EGR stream is hotter than the intake mixture. What I'm saying is that the exhaust coming out of a cylinder that has fired a mixture of EGR gases and air/fuel is cooler than the exhaust of just burning a pure fuel/air mixture. Since it burned to a lower temperature, it forms fewer NOx emissions. Capiche?

Message: I wouldn't worry about the egr valve too much because it only opens at high idle anyway...I think... but yes they do rob power it's not because it is hot air it is because it is not fresh air. Fresh air and fuel burn, exhaust gasses don't.

I read this as pre-ignition.

But the way these engine are set up, if you just disconnect EGR, you might get pinging. The cooling effect of the EGR prevents pinging and can actually slightly increase power and gas mileage. Don't forget, part of the EGR gas is unburned gasoline, too.
