 Subject: Need a superchips receipt

Hey all. I bought a superchips off one of the users of this site. It worked on his truck but my truck says it needs an update. Superchips want's $200 for the update unless I can give them a copy of the receipt. The date on the back of the unit is May of 2004 (Model 3715). Anyone here that can fax me a copy of their receipt so I don't get screwed out of my money completely?

Ya I got one and no I will not give it to you. There has been SOOOOO many warnings about this on this and other sites. E-mail the guy you bought it from and get your money bck and give him back the chip. Than go buy your own.

don't these things have serial numbers? they could track them that way very easily. if were me, i'd track down the guy i bought it from.

Tried that, he won't respond to my emails...maybe he is too busy "working for the sheriffs dept." He lives in Tennessee. I have his address where I sent the money order, but that is a bit far. If he were closer I would go down and "have a little discussion" with him.
The unit I have just has a date code and version number.
I obtained a "receipt" from a local dealer. I had them date it 09/14/05. The date code on the unit is 5/24/04. Hopefully they don't question the unit being over a year old before "I" bought it.
I will send the unit on to superchips with my fingers crossed.

Ive never heard any of these 'soooo many warnings' before. Do they really check into it that much. My receipt is kinda generic looking anyway...and has no serial number on it. Simply says "1 superchips 3715 tuner for Dodge Dakota/Durango". I dont see a serial number on the unit itself unless its inside. It didnt show a serial number on the display when i used it either.
So what are some of these warnings about sending in an obtained reciept with a bum superchips tuner??

Well. All it would take is for them to ask what it was on . You might be ok IF you got that answer and a reciept that fits the chip updates or a code date built in > All things are possible now days. I don't understand why anyone would buy a used one that wasn't provided with the original sales slip and the store with location where bought . Pretty much general knowledge to me .I assume the guy you bought this chip from was a person you had talked to several times over a long period of time to establish you had a reasonable chance he was going to be there after he got your money.Consider yourself lucky. There are guys got bilked for thousands in one shot on ebay.
So many problems .... So little time
