Message: I just swapped in a 180 stat from Napa cause I was getting barely any heat at all and thought my factory one crapped out. Now my heat is a little better but only when my rpms are up a bit (1500-2000) at Idle I just get the same heat(same as before).
Also my engine temp gauge is only coming up not even an inch. If I want good heat should I have went to a 195deg or should a 180 still be ok.

Message: U sure U got all the air out of the system???? It could be air bound. I had that same problem with a 89 Voyager V6. It was air bound at the Heater core.
The VA way. "If it ain't broke, fix it till it is."

Message: Do I go about fixing that by taking off the rad cap and running it for a while or is that wrong.
Could you talk me through it.
Also should I have mixed the coolant half and half, or just went straight up.

Message: the reason your not getting heat is a clogged heater core which is a common problem with daks. All that needs to be done is you unhook your sending and return lines from your intake and waterpump and take your garden hose and backflush the heatercore from the return side until it stops pumping out sludge. Then you will flush it from the sending side and wait until the water coming out looks clear. Repeat this a few times in the same sequence until you have a free flowing stream of clear water when flushed from either direction. And yes, your fine with the 180 stat. It will actually give you more power too which is a plus. Let me know how it works because i have other suggestions if it doesnt.

Message: The heater system is pretty simple. Hot water throught the core, air through the core. So if you're not getting heat, one of those two things isn't happening.
Check the hoses going in to and out of the fire wall. With the heater off and the engine fully warmed up, they should feel about the same. And they should be about the same temp as the upper radiator hose. If not about equal, then the hot coolant is not circulating through the core. Find the blockage and fix it.
If they are about the same temp, then air is not passing through the core. Check the directional flaps in the AC/heater box and make sure they're working correctly.
As for the 180* thermostat, some people have had good luck with them and some have not. If your truck runs good, leave it in. If not, switch back to the 195*. I have yet to see a shred of evidence that the cooler thermostat actually produces more power on an essentially stock truck.

Message: I have the same problem with the heater. I live in Central Texas so it doesn't even get too cold. It happened when I switched out the thermostat to a 180 too.
