Message: I'm looking to upgrade the suspension on my 99 dakota 4x4. I want the truck to handle and corner better. I've been looking into poly bushing frontend kits but, noone seems to make anything for this year or model. I don't want to raise or lower the truck just sport tune the suspension. Does anyone know where I can get the parts I need to make the best handling dakota on the east coast.

Message: Thanks for the help. I've been driving myself crazy looking for someway to get my truck to handle better. I want the best of both worlds,4x4 for snow and ice of the northeast but sports car handling for the few month of summer we get up this way without changing ride hight. I'll also be getting new rubber and wheels for summertime fun, something wide and low to hold the road better. Thanks again, I'll let you know what I find.

Message: Well pst doesn't seem to have much to offer for the 99 dakota with 4wd. The only thing they had was rear leafspring bushing for that year. I don't understand why they won't make a poly bushing kit for the 4x4 dakota. The truck does have bushings in the front end, so why not make a kit of poly bushings for it. If anyone out there knows where I can get a poly bushing frontend kit for a 99 dakota with 4WD please HELP me.

Message: I don't think the poly bushings are going to give you that much towards a better handling truck, plus it's a hell of alot of work. If your bushings are shot, then by all means install the poly bushings. I just don't think this is the starting point. I would make the poly bushings one of the last things on the list.
I would look into adding a rear anti-sway bar and better shocks. I've had 2 Dakota's (2000 and 2003 both 2wd) and they both handled like crap when I bought them. I added a rear anti-sway bar and new shocks to the 2000 and there was a huge difference in cornering, bumpy surfaces, dips, pot holes, high speed driving,,, it just drove like a different truck. The 2003 already had the rear anti-sway bar so I replaced the stock shocks with Monroe Relfex shocks. I wished I had put Monroe Reflexes on the 2000 because the 2003 rides noticable better than the 2000.
I have also heard a good shock combo is Monroe Reflex's in front and Edelbrock AIS's in the rear.
If you haven't replaced the stock shocks with high end aftermarket shocks ($$$, Cha Ching, $60-100/shock), do this as a first step. I think you will be surprised how different the truck rides with different shocks.... Plus shocks are real easy to change ;-)
If you replace the shocks, add a rear anti-sway bar and still want more, go for the poly bushings,,, they will enhance the shcoks and anti-sway bar. I just don't think you will notice the difference in ride from a set of poly bushings,,, unless your stock ones are shot.

Message: Thanks DSW for the info. I do have a rear sway bar and the bushings I have now are not junk but, there is play. I installed a set of kyb gas shocks and it did wonders for the type of ride I'm looking for. I'm at the point where the next thing to do are the bushings, I've also replaced all the other front end parts such as ball joints ect. I'm still not were I want to be with handling. As far as I know the only thing left for me to do is replace the bushings and poly bushings are the way to go for better conering and handling. I just need to find someone out there that makes high end poly bushings for my truck. It's like they forgot that the dakota came in a 4WD model, they only make bushings for the 2WD model. If anyone has info about poly bushings for a 99 4x4 dakota frontend please let me know, THANKS.
