Message: Has anyone ever heard of these guys? I was reading in some sport truck mag, and i noticed a quick blurb about them, I guess they are in the 25-30hp range and quite a bit of tourqe. I dont know how they compair to the Jet Chips. I have a stage II now, but if these ASE guys are better i'll definatly consider going with one of thier fancy chips... oh yeah, thier web addy is: http://www.asechips.com/

Message: Ok, so i just called them. They are running a special till the end of aug. I think he quoted me $449 for a '01 4.7. Kinda steep, but the guy i talked to said that the performance gains are much better than with a jet chip, do to the specific tuning for the engine. I looked a little on the internet for some reviews or peoples comments on them, and couldnt find anything. If these guys are right, and thier chip does kick some a**, its time to ebay the Jet Chip, and get one of these. If anyones got any info or anything on ASE, shoot me an email at glen@groupphotographers.com , or just post here. Thanks in advance.

Message: I would be cautious about their claims. I too have the Jet Chip Stage II and if I remember correctly, they quoted an 18-22 hp increase for the 4.7 liter engine. I think there is a limit as to how much that anyone can advance the timing and still run on 93 octane fuel. I would ask them for the dyno sheet of the before and after and then you can see the whole horsepower curve for yourself. If they don't have this info then I would pass on it. Just my opinion :)

Craig

Message: Has anyone heard how these aftermarket chips stack up against the "Mopar Performance Computer". I checked with my local dealer, who only advised "we've installed 'em in a few 5.2's and they work good"....
To my knowledge the Mopar Performance Computer isn't yet avail. for the 4.7's...

Message: How exactly is the chip installed... do they send you the chip and you snap it on top of your PCM (kind of like those old overdrive chips for 486 computers), or do you have to send the whole board into them and have them put it in?
Thanks!

Message: Yeah, thats actually what im going to do. Im gonna have them tweak the curves a little bit to better match the S/C too. I've just been holding off cause i have to pay off some of my bills. I inquired about the ASE chip before i got my my S/C. The one thing im worried about with the KB and Leech flashes is, can the dealer overwrite them. That would be a very bad thing, cause if it happened to me, there would be one less dodge dealer in the world... :)

Message: I contacted ASE on friday and asked him the procedure since im in Sandiego i can just drive up there to see him. He said it takes about 4 hours to do. I did ask for dyno runs and tech sheets wich he said were unavailable at the moment so i am waiting on that info first If the Kenne Bell is flashing do they remove the speed limiter i can already top the truck out. Still waiting on that SC mod

Message: I have the kenne-bell and I can tell you when I put it in,it was like a whole new truck much faster then before. kenne-bell will not remove your speedlimiter if you have the 98mph. I tried everything to get them to take it off.
but the way I saw it plus kenne-bell's incredible turnaround time, plus the fact I probable won't run faster then 98mph in the quarter anytime soon didn't make the others seem worth it.
plus I've never had good experiences with chips.

R.L.-Do you have a rough idea of what kind of mileage you gained, with gas prices skyrocketing the only way I could justify to myself (and my budget) spending the extra dough for 91 octane would be if I got a decent mpg increase.
thanks

Message: I sent an email to Unichip regarding any dealers near me. Their website really doesn't explain much or give details on performance gains and that is the first I have heard of them before.
I have heard of the Kenne Bell Opt II, but thought it was for those that had KB SC installed, what does the unit do exactly and what's the average price tag? Is it a replacement chip, a stand alone unit like the Jet Chip or a "programmer" like the hypertech's?. Hard to hook-up/install? I prefer to do something that will be custom to my mods to get the most outta them, if I have to spend $500-600 for the right set-up, I will. Thx!
